At their core, they are both caused by desperation, but fear cowers while heroism protects. In Anthem by Ayn Rand, protagonist Equality 7-2521, also referred to as Equality, is imprisoned in a collective society that promotes conformity. George Orwell writes about the suffering of animals by their abusive owner in his novel Animal Farm, an allegory to the Russian Revolution of 1917. Society today is comprised of individuals whose perspectives sometimes clash with the majority and the results raise many debates.
